I know that staring at a blank wall in your office can drive a person crazy, it happens. This is especially maddening when you have to be creative. How can you be motivated if your space is lacking in inspiration? Whether you're not ready to commit to a major change or you're not really sure where to start, there are a few things you can do to update your office walls that will make your whole office sing!
1. Paint
Ah, paint. A classic way to change the look and feel of your office walls. If you're ready for a big commitment on your office decor, paint is a good way to go. My own office is a great bright purple. It definitely sets it apart from other offices and leaves me inspired. I suggest bright colors that are still easy to coordinate with, like blues and greens. And I love the idea of painting the ceiling too, as long as you don't have that popcorn ceiling!
2. Temporary Wallpaper
If you don't want the commitment of paint, but still want your office walls to pop, get temporary wallpaper. There are a lot of companies that sell some really great prints, like
Swag Paper and
Tempaper. The paper is peel and stick so it's a snitch to apply. This is perfect for renters since you can just peel off the paper if you move.
3. Chalkboard or Whiteboard Paint
Another trend I really love is the chalkboard or whiteboard wall. It's a great way to update a boring wall, but it's also really functional. We have a chalkboard wall in our office and I use it for big picture ideas and design sketches. Personally, I prefer whiteboard and will probably have a big whiteboard wall in our next office!
4. Fabric
But if paint or wallpaper is too much for you, you could try putting some fabric up against one wall. It's as easy as mounting a curtain rod and picking out your favorite fabric. I love the idea of a wall of fabric, like the amazing striped curtains above. Using curtains or drapes creates a no commitment accent wall that you can change whenever you want. It takes the hassle out of painting and you can just remove it if you change offices.
5. Decals
And if you're looking for the easiest way possible to update your walls, add a few decals. We have a whole wall of decals in our office and it really makes the space stand out. You can find decals of almost anything, and all you have to do is stick them on the wall of your choice and you're done!
How would you update your office walls?
