ABOUT THE DESIGNER

David Mehaffey, Industrial Design Manager at HNI Workplace Furnishings

Cipher's design inspiration was taken from automotive styling using chiseled or cut bodystyling as well as angular trends in architecture. "Chiseled and cut, yet refined and sculpted". The design has an angular, modern aesthetic and is an intentional departure from current HON styling with the thin, flat back frame and angular theme throughout all components. We wanted Cipher to be customizable so the customer can select color accents in addition to the other frame, mesh, and upholstery color options. We wanted reduced clutter and complexity, making it easy for the customer to understand and use."
