HON originally stood for The Home-O-Nize Company, which was founded in 1944 in Muscatine, Iowa. The company first made simple household products like recipe card boxes, but by 1948, HON produced its very first steel utility cabinet, paving the way into the office furniture and supply industry. 

Today, HON is known simply as The HON Company, and we’ve grown into one of the most trusted names in office furniture, offering everything from ergonomic task chairs to versatile desk systems.
