Chicago, IL. June 9, 2025 — The HON Company has refreshed its HON Workspace Chicago to integrate its latest functional furnishing releases and business best-sellers for Chicago Design Week 2025. More than a standard showroom, HON Workspace Chicago serves as an active office year-round, making it a hub for experimentation and a place in which the brand can put into practice its product and design goals. The updated workspace builds on this concept by supporting a variety of work styles as well as inviting design professionals and workplace leaders to experience firsthand how HON products shape environments for working, learning, and connecting.

To lead guests through HON’s myriad capabilities, the workspace is grounded in five stories, offering real-world applications that address the evolving needs of the commercial office. With thoughtfully curated environments spanning individual focus zones, equitable meeting spaces, dynamic lounges, and inclusive educational settings, the experience reflects HON’s continued commitment to comfort, choice, and community.

“Every inch of HON Workspace Chicago serves a purpose,” says Ric Andersen, Vice President of Sales for The HON Company. “We believe in creating spaces that are not only adaptable and functional but empower people to do their best work, learning, and growing. HON Workspace Chicago brings to life our vision for addressing today’s most pressing work and education challenges through thoughtful design in a fresh and clever way.”

The Five Stories that Shape Our Workspace include:

  •  Welcoming Office: This modern reception zone blends warmth and practicality. The 10500 Series™ reception desk ensures clear sightlines and is accompanied by the best-selling Ignition® 2.0 with a breathable and comfortable Spectrum Mesh back. The West Hill™ lounge seating provides a comfortable place to perch or work. Sculpt™ planters introduce biophilia to the mix, while Contain® lockers support team storage needs.
  • Expanding the Potential for Learning: This education zone reimagines the traditional learning environment as a vibrant space driven by creativity and with considerations for varied learning styles and neurodiverse students. Build™ tables and SmartLink® desks and chairs support independent study or group work. Colorful Confetti™ floor cushions and Flock® lounge seating offer sensory-friendly alternatives for students who prefer non-traditional seating. Tangram™ modular seating offers an option for relaxing and socializing, while Class-ifi™ and Storyline™ storage support teacher and student organizational needs.
  • Collaborative Comfort: With modern workplaces thriving on connection, this zone explores how design can facilitate moments of spontaneous or planned collaboration. SoCo™ modular lounge seating, with its signature serpentine form and integrated power, anchors a relaxed gathering space where teams can work or decompress. Flock® poufs and Sculpt™ personal tables offer more casual seating. For moments that call for privacy, the Astir™ working lounge provides an enclosed solution for open floorplans, accompanied by flexible Birk™ personal tables.
  • Planning + Product = Purpose: Progressive, transitional, and traditional ways of work come together to present a contemporary vision for the office that offers solutions for all styles of work. Preside® equitable meeting tables support hybrid meetings large and small. Empower® benching anchors a progressive touchdown space for hotdesking when paired with Flexion™ seating. Coordinate™ height-adjustable desks offer an option for those who prefer more movement throughout the day in a transitional take on the office, with Abound® systems creating an open structure between workstations. Accelerate® panels offer more privacy for traditional users, accompanied by ergonomic Altern™ task chairs. This zone also explores private offices, boardrooms, and mentorship spaces.
  • Responsible Choices, Responsible Spaces: HON’s commitment to sustainability is woven throughout the workspace. Products like Ignition® 2.0 with Spectrum Mesh™ highlight the brand’s eco-consciousness, featuring breathable mesh made from 20% post-consumer recycled content and fully recyclable at end-of-life. The Chicago debut of the Confer guest chair also contributes to the sustainable story— wood scraps from the manufacturing process are repurposed to create corner blocks for the chair's frame, while additional wood byproducts are sent to local farms to be used as animal bedding, promoting sustainability and reducing waste.

A material library rounds out the workspace, highlighting HON’s deep bench of colors, finishes, and materials, including an artistic wall display of the new 20+ Spectrum Mesh colors.

Daily hospitality includes a morning barista, while branded pedi-cabs offer transport between HON and fellow HNI showrooms Allsteel and Kimball International. HON will also host its annual celebratory happy hour on Monday afternoon.

HON Workspace Chicago will be open at 350 N Orleans Street for Chicago Design Week, June 9-11 2025, 9 AM-5 PM. Learn more at hon.com/chicago.
