HON’s Top 3 Moments from EDspaces 2025
At EDspaces 2025, the premier event dedicated to transforming learning environments, HON had the opportunity to demonstrate how thoughtful design can positively influence teaching and learning. From exploring how color can become a purposeful tool in education spaces to engaging directly with educators, dealers, and designers, this year’s event offered exciting ways to connect and collaborate. Here are the top three moments that made our time in Columbus, Ohio stand out:

Color in Motion Comes to Life
HON invited attendees to step inside interactive zones designed to demonstrate how “Color in Motion” — HON’s approach to color theory in schools—translates into real education experiences. Each zone highlighted how intentional color choices work together with furnishings to energize, focus, and inspire both students and teachers.
- Teacher’s Lounge & Demonstration Zone: Featuring the new Field Trip product line, these spaces showcased how thoughtful palettes and design choices enhance accessibility, sensory comfort, and overall cohesion across a school.
- Tangram Story Steps: Used blues and greens to show how calming tones help reduce anxiety, improve concentration, and support focused learning.
- Build Classroom: Demonstrated how warm tones like oranges and yellows can spark collaboration, creativity, and positive interaction.
- Makerspace: Featured bold accents that celebrate student individuality, strengthen belonging, and reinforce school spirit.

To spark conversation, HON invited attendees to participate in a hands-on activity. Visitors selected a color-coded token representing the color they believe inspires the most creativity in their classrooms and dropped them into corresponding jars. According to color theory, green is known to promote creativity most strongly, which led to meaningful discussions among attendees.

Through this interactive experience, HON demonstrated how color can support learning goals and positively influence student behavior.
2. HON Furnished an EDsession Classroom with HON NOW for Real-World Impact
One of HON’s standout moments at EDspaces was furnishing a complete EDsession classroom using the HON NOW quickship program. With a curated range of ready-to-ship solutions, HON delivered a fully equipped learning environment with products that are delivered quickly and confidently. This space allowed attendees to experience the feel and function of Build student tables, Smartlink classroom chairs, the SmartLink teacher desk, and SmartLink mobile storage cabinets with bins. Exploring the classroom in person helped visitors understand how each piece supports flexibility, engagement, and modern learning needs.

After EDspaces, the classroom furniture will be donated to a school in need through Heart of America, where it will continue supporting students and educators in a learning environment designed to help them thrive.
3. HON Contributes Expertise to an EDsession on Team-Based Teaching Models
HON Senior Product Manager for Education Furniture, Madeleine Tigges, joined a group of speakers for an EDsession discussing the growing impact of team-based staffing models in education. The session explored how evolving teaching structures influence classroom layout, collaboration, and student engagement.
Madeleine’s participation offered insight into how thoughtful furniture choices can help classrooms adapt to these shifting models. Her contributions supported a broader discussion about creating learning environments that give students autonomy, allow teachers to collaborate more effectively, and offer the flexibility needed for a range of instructional approaches. This conversation helped highlight how intentional design decisions can strengthen teaching practices and enrich the student learning experience.
Designing What’s Next, Together
EDspaces 2025 highlighted the power of collaboration between educators, designers, and the communities they serve. HON was proud to bring Color in Motion to life, showcase real-world solutions through the HON NOW classroom, and contribute expertise to conversations shaping future teaching models. To everyone who stopped by in Columbus—thank you. We’re inspired by your partnership and look forward to continuing the journey at EDspaces 2026 in Kansas City.
