HON has made durable, dependable office furniture since 1947. From the start, we’ve focused on using materials efficiently, reducing manufacturing and packaging waste, and building products meant to last.

That same practical approach shapes how we source materials, run our facilities, and design the products we make today.

Our Products

We believe exceptional quality is a must. Furniture that stands the test of time stays in use longer, helping resources go further and reducing waste.

The HON Ignition 2.0® shows how longevity and responsibility can come together in one product. Its structural seat pan is made from reclaimed wood, while the adhesive-free back makes disassembly and recycling easier at the end of the chair’s life.

With more than 5 million chairs shipped and a defect rate below 0.5%, Ignition 2.0 demonstrates how lasting performance can help reduce waste.

That focus on responsible products includes both lifecycle decisions and independent verification. HON partners with Green Standards to redirect surplus office furniture to nonprofits instead of landfills. All HON-manufactured products also carry BIFMA LEVEL® certification, giving customers independent verification of their environmental, social, and health impacts.

Our Materials

The materials we choose reflect our deep respect for people and the planet. At HON, we’re dedicated to sourcing materials that make a difference.

HON has assessed 90% of materials across all brands for regulated PFAS, with 100% of base materials analyzed for chemical substances. This supports safer chemistry and materials transparency across the portfolio.

HON also partners with SEAQUAL® Initiative to transform ocean plastic waste into recycled textile fiber. That reclaimed material is used in fabric for select HON products, giving ocean plastic a second life as furniture.

Material responsibility extends to packaging, too. We’ve eliminated 100% of expanded polystyrene foam packaging across all manufactured products, achieving our goal of moving toward fully recyclable packaging.
