Welcome and Reception:
Welcome and reception areas are the first spaces someone sees when they enter a building; especially, for the first time. That’s why it’s important to use furniture in these spaces that is inviting and leaves a positive impression. Try to incorporate soft seating that draws people in to the space. Don’t forget the impact that lighting can play in making a space inviting. It is also nice to consider some sort of service area to make people feel welcome.
Lighting has become a very important part of the workplace, as it influences productivity and employee satisfaction. It is even being considered an important ergonomic feature in office design.
Light scale and open concept designs have definitely made an impact on workplace trends. While collaboration has a great story and allure for many employees, there is still a need for office space conducive to “heads down work”. So, how do you keep this open work environment appeal and increase productivity at the same time? Glass!

Whether you attended NeoCon 2015 in person or participated in the fun through social media and HON World, I think we can all agree that last week’s show was one to remember. As the social media manager for HON, I often have the privilege to represent our company at exciting events as well as the enjoyable challenge of capturing HON happenings on film. There’s a new kid on the block, or should I say 53.5 million new kids on the block. You probably know them as Millennials, and today they make up one third of America’s workforce. So what constitutes the perfect job for this generation? Below are just a few examples of what this group looks for in a workplace:
Giving Back: Millennials are looking for opportunities to give back to their community or to a charity that they or the company hold near and dear. What is your workplace passionate about?
Who knew office furniture could be so interesting?
Here in the cold Midwest, it’s easy to fall into a boring routine during the winter months. Every day is a battle to stay warm. Thick tights and tall boots conquer my wardrobe in drab colors. I drink black coffee every morning. But it doesn’t have to be this way! Here are some of my favorite ideas for injecting a little color into your work day:
In today’s office furniture industry, the trend is leaning toward more open and collaborative workspaces. Even though the need for these types of spaces is growing, we still see a need for private workspaces as well. Whether they be private offices or touchdown areas such as conference rooms, individuals need a place to go with minimal distractions and privacy.
Here at HON we offer several solutions for each type of workspace:
Pantone has recently revealed the 2015 color of the year, and it is… Marsala (yes, just like the sauce)!
Not only does this color taste great, but it is taking over the red carpet! The rich, earthy, and classic tone of Marsala translates perfectly to a stunning red carpet dress, a sophisticated accent wall, or a timeless fabric choice for chairs, couches, or pillows. This color may be the Color of the Year 2015, but I don’t think this color will go out of style anytime soon.
